The process takes 6 to 12 months depending on the response of the client (Hence the process maybe more than 4 depending on how quick the application is worked on and following the trademarks law, which states that trademark registration is done in 12 months). The entire process will cost K1,500.20 per class paid in three installments, which are as follows:

-Upon lodging the application, you pay K500.10, after which we issue a lodging certificate then wait for an acceptance letter. This is to allow the examiners do a thorough search.

-Secondly, after the search process is done and there is no similar mark in the system (i.e IPAS- Intellectual Property Automated System),we issue a document called an acceptance letter which you use for the next payment that is advertisement fee which is K500. The trademark is then advertised in our journal, for a period of two months. The latest journal is availed to the public 25th of the month at a fee of K100.

-When the two months period has elapsed and there is no opposition from the public, the third and last installment is paid, k500.10. That is for the issuance of the trademark certificate.

When lodging, you submit with the payment a trademark form2, downloadable on our website, along with a form 3 and a lodgement schedule.
